DMES representatives join the MESCHANGE Workshop at the University of Warsaw

On January 26 and 27, six colleagues from our department visited the Faculty of Asian and African Cultures at the University of Warsaw to participate in a workshop organized as part of the MESCHANGE project, a mini-grant from the 4EU+ strategic alliance, initiated by Jakub Záhora.
The main objective of the project was to present Middle Eastern studies programs, share good practices in teaching, and establish contacts for further cooperation between researchers from the three alliance universities (University of Copenhagen, Charles University, University of Warsaw).

During the workshops, teachers presented innovative strategies for teaching Middle Eastern languages (e.g., the use of Turkish soap operas, the organization of summer schools, and the cross-border e-tandem presented by Adéla Provazníková), discussed the structure of study programs, and explored opportunities for cooperation with institutions in the region.Another key point of the programme was a discussion on the integration of the study of Middle Eastern politics and political theory into the study plans, led by our colleague Jan Daniel. As part of the development of cooperation, further possibilities for financing joint projects and grant calls were presented.

Given the many professional and pedagogical overlaps in interests, we believe that cooperation with the University of Copenhagen and the University of Warsaw will continue to develop!
