
The Department of Middle Eastern Studies at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University, and the Oriental Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences are hosting the international conference The 15th EURAMAL Conference: Ecocritical Approaches and Environmental Issues in Modern Arabic Literature, which will take place from May 27 to 31, 2024, at the main building of the Czech Academy of Sciences and Vila Lanna.
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Franz Kafka’s death, a special panel dedicated to the reflection of his work in Arabic literature will also be held as part of the conference. Leading European experts on modern Arabic literature will present their papers at the conference, along with academics and doctoral students from the Department of Middle Eastern Studies, Faculty of Arts (František Ondráš, Viktor Bielický, Adéla Provazníková, Monika Šramová, Lukáš Koutský). The honorary guests of the conference are Omani academic and writer Dr. Jokha al-Harthi and emeritus professor of Arabic literature at Durham University, Prof. Paul Starkey.
