The Department of Middle Eastern Studies (Faculty of Art, Charles University) is currently accepting research proposals from PhD applicants for the academic year 2023/2024.

The Middle Eastern Studies Programme is organised together with the Oriental Institute (The Czech Academy of Sciences). We welcome historical, philological and interdisciplinary projects, especially focusing on modern and contemporary issues of the Middle East, but also on older history. We offer support and grants for PhD candidates, internationally-run programme and opportunities for research and study in the region. Please contact our doctoral programme director, dr. The Jewish Studies Programme is organised in cooperation with the Institute of Contemporary History at the Czech Academy of Sciences. We welcome historical, philological and interdisciplinary projects. We offer support and grants for PhD candidates, internationally-run programme and opportunities for research and study in the region. The prospective students should contact the guarantor of the programme doc. Sládek (pavel.sladek@ff.cuni.cz) and consult with him the proposed dissertation project and selection of a suitable supervisor.
